                On July 1, 1999, Taylor County Fiscal Court enacted Ordinance #99.220 creating a 1% occupational license fee on all persons engaged in employment in Taylor County, KY. On January 1, 2008 Taylor County Fiscal Court complied with the requirements of KRS 67.750 to 67.795 and made the necessary changes to abide within the listed statutes resulting in Ordinance No. 220.3A.

                The fee collected assists in balancing Taylor County Fiscal Court's operating budget and includes assisting the community including, but not limited to, Industrial recruitment, police protection,mandatory animal control, mandatory jail, fire protections, senior services, capital maintenance and improvements, parks and recreation services, airport support, as well as E-911 & Rescue service for all county citizens.

                THE FEE

                This fee is assessed on all gross wages, salaries, commissions or other compensation earned by an employee for work performed or services rendered. Exclusions include retirement benefits, disability, unemployment benefits, worker's compensation, precinct workers during election process, KY National Guard, death benefits, non-employer sick and disability payouts.

                WHO MUST REGISTER?

                Every person or business who renders services to another for compensation is required by ordinance to register by completing a Registration Form.

                WHAT IF AN EMPLOYEE DOES NOT LIVE IN TAYLOR COUNTY?

                The license fee is imposed on compensation earned for work performed within Taylor County,not location of residence.

                MUST AN EMPLOYER IN TAYLOR COUNTY WITHHOLD LICENSE FEE?

                Yes. Every employer making payment of compensation to an employee must withhold the fee and forward withholdings on a quarterly schedule as listed:


                1st  Quarter ends March 31st with Quarterly Return due on April 30th
                2nd Quarter ends June 30th with Quarterly Return due on July 31st
                3rd Quarter ends September 30th with Quarter Return due on October 31st
                4th Quarter ends December 31st with Quarter Return due on January 31st
                4th Quarter must include an Annual Reconciliation and w-2's
                 
                NET PROFITS

                Net Profit fees are collected from the net profits of all business ventures within Taylor County at a rate of 1%. Businesses, both public and private, farms and farming operations, lessors of any rental property (all residential and commercial) and independent contractors are all examples. The Net Profit fees are collected annually and based on Federal Tax Returns and due by April 15th or 105 days after Fiscal Year end. No company that pays a franchise tax to the county shall be required to pay a license fee on net profits.
